“My name is Bina Gupta I am almost 70 year old married with two amazing children and one adorable grand daughter. Since childhood I was the healthiest kid in whole big family never used to get sick just the minor stuff . In my mid 50ish become diabetic but it was controlled my mom had Autoimmune disease so I got autoimmune disease and hypothyroidism but it was controlled 🙏 I am still a very active person but before I got sick I used to workout 2 hours 5 days a week , managed full time my husbands busy medical practice , used to work/ volunteer many local charities and played in local ladies bowling league, hosted year around family members from India and loved traveling around the world it was very busy life no complaints.
2015 my life took a major turn my daughter planned a amazing Europe trip for my 60th birthday we had a amazing time just two of us the best birthday gift ever: it is just my understanding that God thought I had lots of fun and enjoyed pretty healthy life it’s time for me to pay my dues on my 60th birthday he rolled truck over me still I didn’t complain he must had his reasons after coming back from my amazing Europe trip I end up in the hospital with pneumonia and I wasn’t responding any IV antibiotics I was getting worse every day even transferred to the hospital all the tests were coming back negative still no diagnosis to make long story short after month on the 2nd day of my third admission in the morning group of doctors came to my room and told me that I LOST BOTH OF MY KIDNEY just like that I had no idea how to process this life changing news. At least finally we had diagnosis Vasculitis ( ANCA ) a rare autoimmune disease..
2017 after two years of convincing me by my son and my amazing nephrologist I agreed to register for a kidney transplant. Then a miracle happened in May of 2019 my son called me that I have been matched with a living donor he is Dr. Gupta and we probably know him and he was right my donor was no one else than Dr Ashutosh Gupta ( Dr Sudha Gupta) well know physicians in Indian community in Chicago area and we had common friends. We Hindus believe in previous life in our case definitely we were brother and sister because this whole thing happened like a movie story to many coincidence which can’t be explained. After couple of weeks of final blood tests we had a very successful transplant . Health wise we both are doing very well.”
